Grill or bake your proteins for the lowest fat content. If you fry or add heavy sauces, your low-fat protein is no longer low-fat.

Protein is an important building block for muscle development, and it is quite easy for vegetarians and vegans to lose muscle mass when they stop eating meat and remove all animal products from their diet.
